A rare and unique early 18th century longcase clock by John Bates of Kettering.

The clock is around 6 feet tall and the depth (sides) is only 4 and a half inches.

The door width is 7 and a half inches, and the dial is 7 and a half inches square.

The clock is very primitively made, and has an early verge type alarm with inside striking of the bell..

The hood has very unusual wire hinges, this clock must be one of the earliest Bates of Kettering clocks in existence.

The clock will need some attention
