A fine marble clock with a bronze surmount by Charpentier depicting Cleopatra reclined with vase and wine filled urn and trailing grape foliage. 
The polished stone Roman numeral dial with is marked Charpentier above and Dewint below along with the movement backplate which is marked Charpentier and the inner backplate Vor Dewint à Paris" (Victor Dewint).
The movement has recently been completely overhauled and serviced.
The gilding to the clock is original.
A very fine & rare clock with work by one of the most important bronziers of that time.
