Fine and Very large shallow depth desk clock by Japy Frères, Paris, circa 1908

At only 17cms deep, having such a shallow depth makes this clock very desirable for a working desk or shallow mantelpiece.

Superbly cast reclining sophist females to the top, Thucydides etched to the scroll above the enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, set behind the original convex glass door.

Twin train bell striking movement with rare platform escapement.

Decorated with brass panels and gilt Rococo style scrolls and floral swags, with original glass door to the rear.

Measures: 39 cm in height, 17 cm in depth and a huge 64 cm in width.

Superb working order and a very rare clock by Japy Frères.
