Fine London flame mahogany 8 day longcase clock by William Mason.

The flame mahogany case in the typical London style with pagoda top, fluted columns with brass fluting, long door with excellent figuring complete with original lock and key on a panelled base upon bracket feet.

The movement which is totally original to the case has five pillars, an anchor escapement striking the hours upon a bell.

The dial, with silent / strike and seconds subsidiaries, soft matted centre with cartouche for William Mason London, date aperture and traditions silvered chapter ring.

William Mason b.1719 - d.1791 lived near East Lane, Rotherhithe Wall & later at Dockhead, Southwark where he is mentioned in Kent's London Directory of 1781.... He was a writer on Methodism as well as a noted clock maker whom was listed in G.H.Ballie-Watch and clockmakers of the World as working in London from 1734-1787.

The clock is offered in exceptional working order, totally 100% original and complete with its original brass cased weights, large brass bobbed pendulum, and keys.
