John Cuff of Shelton Mallet 8 Day Longcase Clock

**A very cheap example**

Superb four pillar 8 day flame mahogany Longcase clock by John Cuff of Shelton Mallet* with brass dial, high water and moon-phase to the arch, silvered subsidiary seconds and date aperture with engraved centre.

The pagoda topped case with its three original spire finials is one of the best flame mahogany London style cases I’ve seen in a very long time, centre fretwork to the hood, side view glass, fluted columns with brass capitals, moulded door and plinth, complete with its original locks, escutcheons and keys to both doors.

*The clock does show signs of the dial possibly not being the original upon inspecting the dial feet to front plate, however the dial is of course of the same period, the hands are original although painted.

Complete with original brass weights and brass bobbed pendulum and crank key.

A stunning example.

(It is believed Cuff had much to do with the Glastonbury tower turret clock).
